Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH)

Gangamai Hospital is committed to providing a safe, respectful and dignified workplace environment and follows the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and applicable Rules.

Reporting Sexual Harassment

An aggrieved woman may submit a written complaint relating to sexual harassment ordinarily within three months from the date of the incident or, in the case of a series of incidents, within three months from the date of the last incident.

Where circumstances prevented the complaint from being submitted within this period, the Internal Committee may extend the period by up to a further three months, subject to the provisions of the Act.

Important Timelines

The following statutory periods apply according to the circumstances and procedure provided under the Act.

Submitting a complaint

Complaint should ordinarily be submitted within three months of the incident or last incident in a series.

An extension of up to a further three months may be permitted in circumstances provided under the Act.

90 Days

Inquiry period

The inquiry is to be completed within the statutory period of 90 days.

60 Days

Action on recommendations

The employer is required to act upon the Internal Committee's recommendations within 60 days of receiving the report.

Complaint Redressal Process

Complaints are handled sensitively, fairly and confidentially in accordance with applicable law.

  • Where an inquiry is required, the inquiry is to be completed within the statutory period of 90 days.
  • Following completion of the inquiry, the Internal Committee submits its findings and recommendations in accordance with the applicable procedure. The employer is required to act upon the recommendations within 60 days of receiving the report.
  • Interim relief may also be recommended during the pendency of an inquiry, where appropriate and in accordance with law.
  • Where allegations are established, appropriate disciplinary or other action may be recommended in accordance with applicable service rules and law.

Confidentiality and Protection

Information relating to the complainant, respondent, witnesses, complaint, inquiry proceedings, recommendations and action taken will be handled in accordance with the confidentiality requirements prescribed under the POSH Act.

Gangamai Hospital does not tolerate retaliation, intimidation or victimisation arising from the good-faith reporting of workplace sexual harassment or participation in the complaint or inquiry process.

Internal Committee

Gangamai Hospital has constituted an Internal Committee in accordance with applicable provisions of the POSH Act.
